How to Connect to Your Database?

Guide to finding connection details in the panel and connecting securely from your application.

Beginner3 minUpdated:5 October 2026

In brief

  • Get credentials from the Database card on the service detail page.
  • Pass these details to your application as environment variables.
  • Keep the connection pool small to avoid hitting the connection limit.
  • Back up your data to your own environment regularly.

When you order a database plan, the Database card in your panel displays the host, port, database name, username and password. You must use these details for your application to connect.

bash
DB_HOST=db.clodo.net
DB_PORT=3306
DB_NAME=my_database
DB_USER=my_user
DB_PASSWORD=your-panel-password

Node.js Connection Example#

javascript
import mysql from "mysql2/promise";

const pool = mysql.createPool({
  host: process.env.DB_HOST,
  port: Number(process.env.DB_PORT),
  user: process.env.DB_USER,
  password: process.env.DB_PASSWORD,
  database: process.env.DB_NAME,
  connectionLimit: 5,
});

Database Backups#

Automatic backups are not included in the plans. You need to take a regular copy of your database yourself: export it with mysqldump or pg_dump and keep it safely in your own environment.
