Bedrock is the edition that runs on phones, tablets, Windows 10/11 and consoles. Although it looks like the same game as Java, it uses entirely separate server software: behavior packs instead of plugins, UDP instead of TCP, a compiled binary instead of a jar. Knowing these differences saves the hours usually lost trying to apply Java guides to Bedrock.

Get the player's Xbox gamertag
On Bedrock, players are identified by their Xbox account. Ask for the exact gamertag, not the display name shown in-game.
Add them to the allow list from the console
Type the command below in the panel console. It works even if the player has never connected before.

The player goes to Play > Servers > Add Server in Minecraft and enters the IP and UDP port shown in the panel. They must not leave the port field empty; the default 19132 is usually not correct.
Fehlerbehebung
Server not found / Unable to connect to world
The wrong port was entered, or the player's game version differs from the server's.
Have them enter the exact port shown in the panel and compare both versions.
Connects on console but not on phone
Some mobile carriers restrict high-numbered UDP ports.
Ask the player to try over Wi-Fi; if it persists, request a different port allocation.
Player is on the allow list but cannot join
The gamertag is misspelled, or allowlist reload was never run.
Verify with allowlist list; gamertags are not case sensitive but spaces matter.

Can Java and Bedrock players share one server?
Not directly. You need Geyser and Floodgate on the Java side; Geyser translates Bedrock packets into the Java protocol. The Velocity and Geyser guide covers that setup step by step.
Can I install plugins on a Bedrock server?
Not in the Java sense. The official server is extended through behavior packs and the script API, which is far more limited than the plugin ecosystem. If plugins are a hard requirement, a Java + Geyser setup fits better.
